Hot walk on a metal ramp leads to lawsuit

DANVERS, Mass. — Takeout coffee cups warn consumers: “Contents may be hot.” Could metal walkways be next?

A Massachusetts man says he suffered second-degree burns on his feet while walking down a metal ramp at a marina one sunny day last June. The man is suing the marina, claiming its managers should have warned visitors the walkway would be hot.

Norman Pelletier's lawsuit against the Danversport Yacht Club asks for at least $15,000 in damages. It does not indicate whether he was wearing shoes or why he was walking on the ramp.

Pelletier's attorney did not return calls seeking comment, nor did management at the marina.
