VALDOSTA, Ga. — A body discovered on farmland in Dooly County is believed to be that of a missing 85-year-old Ohio woman who, along with her husband, were believed to have been killed last month.

Authorities think the body may be that of Gladis Russell of Ohio. The body of Richard Russell was discovered near Chattanooga, Tenn., according to the Logan County (Ohio) Sheriff’s Office. The couple had been the subject of a nationwide search.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation Assistant Special Agent Craig Rotter said the woman’s body was sent to the GBI lab in Macon for processing and determining positive identification.

Samuel K. “Sammy” Littleton, 37, of Ohio is the suspect in the Russells’ disappearance.

After his arrest in Princeton, W.Va., Littleton told West Virginia authorities he left one of the bodies in a cotton field, the other along a train track in Lowndes County. He has been charged with murder and other crimes.
