This year’s state and local prayer day event coordinators share how everyone can join in on this special day and be part of a united front. There’s an old saying: ‘prayer changes everything.’ Blessed assurance for believers during this unprecedented time in history in the shadow of COVID-19. These two prayer warriors believe it’s not just the threat to lives and health that must be dealt with, but also the spirit of fear that has spread like the virus. They plan to join forces in the battle during Thursday’s ‘National Day of Prayer,’ the state-wide prayer event will last 12 hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mississippi National Day of Prayer State Coordinator Debra Brown said, "We in Mississippi are planning a live event on Facebook. It's an hour worship, 30 minutes of prayer. Our Governor Reeves will be on at 11:30 a.m. to give the decree for the Proclamation of Mississippi, and then there will be many others leading the worship and the prayer." One of those leaders, Connie Lillo-Thieman, who will be praying over the area of arts and entertainment, something she’s done in years past at the annual gathering in Gulfport. “We were sad to get the news that they had to cancel at Jones Park, but National Day of Prayer said, 'we're not canceling.' We just love that. We're coming up with new ways we can still gather and unite."
